NYC Pride 2026
New York City Pride 2026 will take place from June 24 through June 29, 2026, offering a packed calendar of events that celebrate and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community across the city. Highlights include the NYC Pride March on Sunday, June 28, where thousands of marchers and spectators convene along Fifth Avenue and through Greenwich Village in one of the world’s most iconic Pride demonstrations. The march follows a route that traditionally begins around 26th Street and Fifth Avenue and heads downtown past the historic Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 uprising that catalyzed global Pride celebrations.
In addition to the march, festivities across the weekend include PrideFest, a vibrant street festival in Greenwich Village with vendors, entertainment, and community activities. NewYork.co.uk Many attendees also enjoy events like Dance on the Pier, Pride Island parties, and the high-energy Dreamland Pride concert in Central Park on June 28. Gay Travel 4u+1 On the Friday before the march, the NYC Drag March in Tompkins Square Park celebrates queer visibility in an energetic, grassroots style.
NYC Pride 2026 blends joyful celebration, political visibility, cultural expression, and community across multiple neighborhoods. Between parades, festivals, parties, and marches, attendees from around the world will find a mix of activism, remembrance, and nightlife that reflects New York’s role as a global LGBTQIA+ hub.
NYC Pride History
NYC Pride traces its roots back to the Stonewall Uprising of June 28, 1969, when police raids at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village sparked protests and marked a turning point in the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement. HISTORY One year later, on June 28, 1970, organizers held the first annual march then known as Christopher Street Liberation Day, a commemorative demonstration through Manhattan that helped inspire Pride events around the world.
Since then, NYC Pride has grown into one of the largest and most significant Pride celebrations globally, planned each year by Heritage of Pride, a nonprofit that took over event coordination in 1984. The celebration honors both the struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights and the culture and diversity within the community. From its grassroots beginnings to massive contemporary parades, festivals, and parties, NYC Pride remains a powerful expression of visibility, unity, activism, and joy rooted in decades of history and resilience.
