About me
From Front Desks to Founders: Meet Drew
Hey there! I’m Drew. A few years back I traded the freezing winters of Minneapolis for the vibrant energy of Atlanta, bringing 15 years of hospitality “trenches” experience and a brand-new mission with me.
For over a decade, I worked behind the scenes in the hotel and travel industry, helping people navigate the world. But at the start of 2026, I realized that the way we plan travel—especially as LGBTQ+ individuals—was still a fragmented mess of 27 open browser tabs and “maybe-safe” guesses.
That’s when I hung up my travel agent hat to build something better: OutAtlas.
Why I Do What I Do
I’ve transitioned from booking trips to building tools and telling stories. While my career has shifted from the agency side to the tech and content side, my “why” remains the same:
The Insider Perspective: I use my 15+ years in hospitality to filter out the noise. I know how the industry works, and I’m here to show you the shortcuts.
Identity-First Travel: As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I don’t just look for “gay-friendly” destinations; I look for places where we are celebrated.
The Solo Standard: My years of solo trekking have taught me that safety and confidence are the ultimate travel accessories. I’m here to share the “boots-on-the-ground” tips that keep you secure without sacrificing the adventure.
The Story Continues
Even in a year where the world feels a bit smaller and the economy has us all being more intentional with our coins, my passion for discovery hasn’t dimmed. Through this blog, my vlogs, and the OutAtlas App, I’m sharing the raw, honest, and tech-forward side of travel.
I’m not just telling you where to go; I’m building the tools to help you get there—and sharing my own journey along the way.
Ready to stop searching and start exploring? Let’s get into it.
