Pride After Dark: My Magical Night at Universal’s Hidden Gem

Forget the Castle and fireworks shows – this past weekend, I embarked on a different kind of fairytale adventure: Pride is Universal! Nestled within the iconic Universal Studios, this secret (well, almost) after-hours party is a vibrant celebration unlike any other.

Imagine stepping through the familiar Universal Studios entrance, but not only looking at the globe but the familiar arch bathed in a dazzling display of rainbow lights. Gone were the usual park crowds rushing from ride to ride, replaced by a kaleidoscope of color and identities – a sea of smiling faces from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, all united for a night of self-expression, joy, and community.

Should Uplift be your new Favorite Travel Hack?

I am sure that a lot people have seen things like Quadpay, Afterpay or shopping websites when you are buying the new Coach Messenger bag or something similar.   I would never use a service like that for something like a bag; that’s what the Outlet Malls are for.  I can certainly use a similar service […]

Planning a Cruise Solo?

Waiting for a family member to join you on a trip is becoming less and less of a requirement in the current digital age, especially for the LGBTQ community.  For me, it’s become less of something that I am willing to do, as I am in a different place than many of my other family […]

Virgin Voyages Part 2

The fact that Virgin Voyages is working on reinventing the wheel for cruises makes them my cruise line of choice.  One of the things that made a huge difference to me is that when I took my very first cruise, I remember kids running the ship alone into the wee hours of the morning!  I […]

Virgin Voyages Part 1: Solo Sailor and More

Let me wade into the Virgin Voyages discussion.  From the perspective of a fat, middle-aged gay black male solo sailor.   A lot of others have stepped into the discussion, both cruise regulars and non-cruise regulars. I fall into the latter category; I have taken 2 cruises before this.  As a detailed planner, I tend to […]

Amsterdam Pride 2022. Bucket List Pride Part 2

Unlike Curacao Pride, but very similar to Rio Carnival, street parties are a big thing for Amsterdam Pride.   And I attempted to drop in on as many as I could.  From Drag Olympics to Beursplein (Crash), which is more of the Fetish Street Party. I made a goal to hit 5, which is around half […]

Amsterdam Pride 2022! Bucket List Pride #1

As many of you who have seen my Bucket List right here, I got to live one out.  I sat down and Booked my trip to Amsterdam Pride.  2022 was the right time; I was older and had a little more income and had the comfort of knowing that I have traveled there before (for […]

Remote Work Vacations

Working from Home is becoming more of the norm since we welcomed Covid-19 into our world and the pandemic became a continued mindset.  Over the last 2 years we have had to weigh the safety of the world outside our doors to our needs and desire for excitement and exploration.   Prior to the Coronavirus I […]

Bucket List: Destinations

Each year through TV, Movies and Social Media we all discover new destinations or even events that we have to see and witness firsthand ourselves. For me I have been slowly attempting to see as many of these from my Bucket Lists as I can. However there are some Cities and Destinations that I have […]

Bucket List: LGBTQ Pride Events

As I age and continue to experience and travel to many and more diverse destinations; my bucket list has expanded beyond the standard of most. With travel bloggers, and even Will Smith, aka the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air sharing their own bucket list; I decided it was time to commit mine to pen and paper. […]
