Pride After Dark: My Magical Night at Universal’s Hidden Gem

Pride After Dark: My Magical Night at Universal's Hidden Gem

Forget the Castle and fireworks shows – this past weekend, I embarked on a different kind of fairytale adventure: Pride is Universal! Nestled within the iconic Universal Studios, this secret (well, almost) after-hours party is a vibrant celebration unlike any other.

Imagine stepping through the familiar Universal Studios entrance, but not only looking at the globe but the familiar arch bathed in a dazzling display of rainbow lights. Gone were the usual park crowds rushing from ride to ride,  replaced by a kaleidoscope of color and identities – a sea of smiling faces from the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, all united for a night of self-expression, joy, and community.

The energy crackled in the air, similar to larger Pride events, but with a more intimate and welcoming vibe. It felt like a giant chosen family reunion, where everyone felt comfortable letting loose and celebrating their true selves under the twinkling stars. Whether you were dancing the night away to pulsing beats or simply soaking in the atmosphere, a sense of acceptance and pure joy permeated the air.

But Pride is Universal wasn’t just about the good vibes (although those were plentiful!). The night was packed with show-stopping entertainment that kept the party pumping all night long. DJ Brynn Taylor spun the hottest dance tracks, creating the perfect soundtrack for celebrating. And the drag performances? Let me tell you – they were fierce! From legendary queens like Chad Michaels slaying as Cher to Kornbread Jete bringing down the house with a Beyoncé tribute, the talent was undeniable. Each performance was a dazzling celebration of self-expression and creativity, keeping the energy high and the crowd roaring.

Beyond the glitz and glam, what truly stole my heart was the fact that Pride is Universal is more than just a party. This incredible event acts as a fundraiser for Christopher Street West, the organization that brings LA Pride to life every year. So, by attending this magical after-hours event, you’re not only creating unforgettable memories, but you’re also contributing to a worthy cause that empowers the LGBTQIA+ community.  Which for Pride this Year helped bring Ricky Martin to headline Pride in the Park and showcase over 150 LGBTQIA Groups, Organizations and Allies in the Parade,

Overall, Pride is Universal was a night I won’t soon forget. It was a dazzling kaleidoscope of vibrant colors, electrifying music, amazing rides all combimed to provide a powerful sense of belonging. If you’re looking for a unique and unforgettable way to celebrate Pride, and find yourself near  Universal Studios Hollywood, I highly recommend checking it out! It’s an experience that will leave you feeling sparkly, empowered, and ready to shout your truth from the rooftops (or in this case, the theme park!)
